Where to discover canyoning in the French Riviera? Descending the Gorges du Loup canyon is perfect either for a family outing or for a group of sportsmen. The Loup is really the best half day canyoning tour around Nice. It is an amusing route in a magnificent natural setting close to Grasse, Vence and Cagnes sur Mer. You will have to drive around 50 minutes from Antibes, Cannes and Mandelieu. It takes an hour to drive from Nice to the spot.
In addition, the Loup River always has a good water flow even during years of severe drought.
In this outing, we will descend the Loup Canyon at level 2, that is to say with introduction to abseiling. It’s very easy but if you don’t want to learn how to abseil, the best is to choose the grade 1 tour, also known as aquatic hike.
How difficult is the Gorges du Loup canyon?
Jumping and tobogganing down the river is good fun. As the Gorges du Loup canyon is not narrow, you can walk down around the obstacles if you do not wish to jump or slide down. So it is suitable for children over 8 years old and beginners in general as an initiation to canyoning.
On the other hand, it can be a challenging and thrilling experience for sportsmen who like tobogganing and you can jump down from rocks 10 meters above the water.

In grade 2 tour, you will start a little higher and you will abseil down two waterfalls. One is 12 meters high, the other is 8 meters high. It’s very easy to learn the abseiling technique.

Meeting point for Gorges du Loup canyon
Do not come without contacting me to book as I cannot take too many people.
First you must drive to Pont du Loup, between Bar sur Loup and Vence. From Pont du Loup, you have to drive up the gorge in direction of Greolières. After leting the Saut du Loup on your right, you will arrive to a place called Bramafan. Just after entering Bramafan, take a small path on your right called Chemin des Cabanes (It’s indicated Pré-Royer, GR51). Park on Chemin des Cabanes on the places on the right of the path after driving about 100m.
Convenient organization and on-site parking
Parking on site is free. The equipment with neoprene suits, harnesses and helmets is then done at our base. You will therefore leave towels and a change of clothes there. We will then transport you free of charge by shuttle to the Gorges du Loup canyon, 5 minutes from our base where the descent takes place. At the end of the canyoning trip, you will be taken back by shuttle to the meeting point. In addition, your guide keeps your car keys for you during the outing.
