Just after the Italian border, Barbaira canyon is probably the finest canyoning trip near Nice, Monaco and Menton. It has incredibly diverse and astonishing views and you are bound to be amazed by its beauty. You would just not believe it’s possible to find such a magical place so close to the French Riviera. It’s about one hour from Nice by car and even closer to Monaco and Menton.
How difficult is Barbaira canyon ?
Barbaira canyon is not too strenuous (grade 2) and the route is not very demanding if you choose the easiest ways. Though, you must be fit, especially if you are a beginner as the descent lasts about 4 hours, plus the walk to the canyon which takes about 40 minutes.
It can be a challenging and thrilling experience for sportsmen who like exciting outdoor sports in Nature. You can sometimes jump down from 10 meters high rocks into the river, in an outstanding natural setting.
It is accessible to children older than 12.

80 euros per person and 75 euros if you book for 6 people and more. Entrance ticket is included.
You will pay your canyoning guide with cash when you arrive on the spot.
What do you need?
Swimming trunks and sport shoes, like running shoes or tennis shoes, but do not wear bathing shoes . I will provide technical gear. You must also have a sandwich, chocolate bars and a one-liter water bottle per person.

The meeting point is on the highway, on the rest area called « aire de la riviera française », just after Monaco and La Turbie when you drive from Nice. Your canyoning guide will meet you at the petrol station.
